One of the biggest and most dangerous challenges facing the utility industry is the risk of pole top fires. This risk of fire can increase or decrease, depending on the type of material used in the pole’s construction and design. Some utility companies have added fiberglass crossarms to their electric transmission and distribution infrastructure as a way to reduce the risk.

PLP’s new distribution warehouse and office at 178 Power St. is now fully operational. The 7,127 square metre facility stocks PLP’s finished goods to supply the Australian market. The building also accommodates finance, administration and sales and marketing. 190 Power St. remains as the manufacturing site housing the engineering and operations team.
Preformed Line Products (Australia) prides itself on its in-house, NATA accredited test laboratory, for the mechanical testing of overhead power line fittings. PLP regularly upgrades and replaces test equipment to retain leadership in this area of expertise.
