PLP - A Major Supplier of Busbar Systems to the Australian Market

Preformed Line Products has been manufacturing full, turnkey, integrated substation bus systems since 2000 ranging from 22kV to 500kV. Fully prefabricated systems have been installed which eliminated the need for on site welding, the fully bolted system having obvious advantages.

PLP’s product range caters to all standard tube sizes including 80, 100, 125, 160 and 200mm diameters with wall sections from 3 to 12 mm.  As part of PLP’s service to our customers we offer a maintenance manual with all substations including the following;

1. Quality Assurance Documentation.
2. Assembly Instructions.
3. Elevation and General Assembly Drawings.
4. Rigid Busbar Drawings.
5. Rigid Busbar Identification Label.
6. Component Drawings.
7. Detailed Packing List.
8. Material Certifications.
9. Welder Certifications.
10. Welding Procedures.
11. Insurance Certificates.

Bolted “A” Frame

PLP manufacture a bolted A frame design for connecting the high and low busbars where the welding is conducted in the factory and the A frame is located and bolted together on site.

Compression Terminals

Compression terminals are made for use on aluminium based stranded conductors for AAC, AAAC and ACSR. The palms are designed to suit the terminals on equipment manufactured to AS62271.301 (formally AS2395). PLP can also manufacture to customer requirements.

Corona Control Fittings

PLP manufacture corona rings for both substations and high voltage transmission lines. These are either manufactured to a proven design or, by using our finite element analysis software, we can design and manufacture grading rings to suit individual applications.

Flexible Connections

Laminated:  Designed for connections where expansion of the busbar is required. Manufactured from sheet aluminium laminations shaped to allow for expansion. These are welded to aluminium.

Conductor:  Manufactured with the same purpose in mind, these connections are manufactured from a combination of conductor and compression terminals.

Flexible Droppers

Another option for the connection of high and low bus, is to use standard compression terminals with a length of conductor. These can be compressed in the factory (if an accurate length is known) or easier on site.

Bolted Fittings

These fittings are designed to terminate and connect both rigid aluminium busbars and strung conductor bus. All PLP Bolted fittings are manufactured using high strength Aluminium Alloy with stainless steel hardware.

Spacers

Designed for holding conductors at predetermined positions the PLP spacers come in a variety of spacings ranging from 50mm to 520mm as well a large range of conductors. These spacers are
either forged or cast using high strength alloys depending on thespacing.

Earth Fittings

PLP manufacture a range of substation working earths to cover solid bus, as well as strung bus in single, double, triple or quad configurations.
