Phaser3
The Problem
Thousands of Australians, particularly in rural Australia, do not have access to reliable 3 phase power. Supply upgrades to 3 phase often cost in the 10’s or even 100’s of thousand of dollars, which is usually prohibitive to both the enduser and the utility companies.
Most commercial machinery over a few kilowatts is designed to operate on 3 phase power. Reason being 3 phase motors are more reliable, much less expensive, more readily available, have a much better starting capability, run more efficiently (eg. 90% compared to 70%), and last many years longer than their single phase counterparts. Single phase motors are expensive, inefficient and unreliable when compared to 3 phase motors.
The requirement for larger machinery often means that 3 phase connection is the only option. In many cases, machine manufacturers do not offer single phase solutions.
The Power Converter
The Phaser3 power converter is the least expensive way to operate 3 phase equipment wherever utility 3 phase is unavailable or is too expensive to obtain. The Phaser3 power converter eliminates the utility charges to extend 3 phase power lines and the cost of new supply transformers and power metering. The Phaser3 power converter also saves the cost of a new 3 phase switchboard and can usually be installed in less than an hour compared with weeks or even months for a utility line extension.
Phaser3’s can be used on a Single Wire Earth Return (SWER) power supplies. Standard model sizes range from 2.2kW to 37kW and suit any application. The only limiting factor is the size of the single phase supply available. A Phaser3 power converter is inexpensive to own and operate, is quieter than generator alternatives and is fully portable. Therefore, the availability of a 3 phase power solution offers significantly more options for machining selection.

Optional Extras
PLP can customise converters to best suit the application and can fit or supply additional 3 phase outlets, 3 phase plugs, extension leads, motor rated (D-Curve) circuit breakers, digital or manual timers, soft starters and remote start options for pumping and refrigeration equipment. Just ask PLP for a quote on any modifications required. Phaser3’s can also be manufactured to suit a genuine 480V 2 phase input which are occasionally found in some rural areas.
